bonjourno.
this is the start of what will hopefully be something i will pour much energy into, and others will enjoy.
in the past six months i had some of the most fun ive had in my entire life, ive met alot of very interesting characters, established relationships with a wide variety of people, the list goes on, all this to say, is that foremost, in creating this blog, i want to be able to remember the months to come. for i trust they will be as much and more eventful. also, im going to be relatively out of touch and away from alot of friends and family for at least half a year, and figured this would be a fun, productive, and effiecient way with keeping people updated.
wait what?
ok, so i have postponed by next semester of school at the master's college. no, im not dropping out of college. no i haven't lost my mind. so i hope. Lordwilling, i will most definitely be back at TMC in the fall. and i am staying in school. kind of. one could phrase it "studying abroad in Bishop". but in reality, i will be basically dirtbagging it in Bishop, CA. ill be taking 12 units online--spending time at local coffee shops and the library. and getting a simple job up there. i will be living out of my car, in a tent. primarily in the buttermilks, but i will probably spend a number of nights in "the pit", and other BLM land.
why?
a) reading/watching krakauer's into the wild super motivated me to live in the wilderness for a bit. not on any level remotely comparable to the supertramp, but in a reasonable sense.
b) bishop is a climbing mecca. the buttermilks is the best bouldering in california, and arguably the best bouldering in the world. happy boulders is world class also. these two world renowned areas comprise less than a fifth of the established bouldering right in bishop. bishop is also home to the best sport crag in california, owens river gorge. -by far my favorite place to climb. pine creek is also very close, along with mammoth and yosemite. the peak climbing season starts in late november and runs until the end of spring.
c) the sierras are beautiful. bishop is very beautiful. the weather is relatively mild. the people are very easygoing.
d)im young, barely 20, started school when i was 17, and am getting a little burnt out, and could definitely benefit from a little time of refreshment/reflection/introspection.
d) apart from the badass climbing and climbers, a major attraction of this whole thing is just going to be living simply and alone. oh, i am definitely going to adopt a dog before i go though.
so yeah.
i will be leaving for bishop around december 10th. and plan on becoming very active in my blogging on that day. i will be adding pictures very often, and video. it should be good stuff. so for now, i will check in weekly, and try to get used to this whole blog thing. 5 weeks!
oh. i saw ted leo and the pharmacists last night. and he was bitchin! soooooo good live.
thanks.
